Mode of action :-
Cresol ( Substituted phenol) is a cytoplasmic poison to micro organisms
It disrupts cell wall , precipitates cytoplasmic proteins and inactivates
essential enzyme systems in microbial cells and eliminates microbes.
Cresols are less toxic and less caustic than phenols
Soaps (R-COO Na+) are surfactants, dissociate in water to (R-COO) and
liberate molecules of hydrophobic and hydrophilic nature
The former molecules solubalise fat, protein, plasmic matter
which can be rinsed away
Features :-
Lysol : Is effective on Gram +ve and Gram -ve Bacteria ;
Mycobacterium sp Enveloped viruses and Fungi
Lysol : Active in presence of organic matter
Lysol : It is both a surfactant and a disinfectant in action
Lysol : Generally safe (except infants, children)
Lysol : Expiry two years from date of manufacture
Preacutions:-
1) Not to be used in the vicinity of infants such as nursery, children wards etc
2) Not to be used in places where food is prepared and served
